Update 8-28-2010  Hi!- I am reported to be litter box trained and am used to being left alone for 9 hours a day according to my former owner.  During that time, I had free run of the house.
I have not met any dogs, but have met other cats. My previous owner did not report any information about children/babies.
I have been kept as an indoor cat only and like Fancy Feast & Purina dry.  Am reported to be active and playful.
The only cat that had been here longer than Pax was Dr. Chubbs.  She was pulled into the home of one of our staff members as she had grown increasingly stressed around people, mouthing them for petting her.
Pax continues to sit patiently in the front of his cage hoping for an adopter to choose him over the many other adult cats that remain available in this area.  Despite over a thousand hits on his web page and multiple updates to his photos, he remains here.
The fur on the front of his body can be considered a dense medium length coat, but gets longer the further back on his body.
We will maintain L'il Pox Pax as long as he stays friendly, healthy and with good habits.  His urine has a strong odor to it, likely from the stimulation of so many unaltered female cats around this unaltered male cat.  He continues to empty only in his litter pan because if he was spraying the sides of his cage, he would have been pulled from the adoption area.

Old Posts: I was 9 months old at the time of surrender on May 1, 2010 .  I am a solid white long-haired cat.  I am too petit to be a Maine Coon.  I enjoy the shelf in my cage so perhaps visitors can not see me when they visit.  I am the second cage on the left as you enter the cat room.

Several of my cheer leaders here and on Facebook think that the name Pax would fit me better than Lil Pox.

I played with volunteers today in our conference room.  I enjoyed the toys, but was not very interested in being brushed.

Keep the following in mind:  adopting a kitten or cat from the Women's Humane Society is much more affordable than taking in a free kitten and responsibly providing it with the necessary medical care to keep your pet and family safe.  Spaying and neuter cats in a multi-pet household reduces the euthanasia of healthy and treatable cats and kittens because there are so many more that need homes than there are responsible owners.

Cats remain available as long as they remain friendly and healthy and we have the space.  Space is typically an issue from June through September with kitten season running from April through October.  Some kittens are available through January with few to no adoptable kittens in February and March.

The following donation includes the intake exam, distemper shot, wormer, and flea spray given at the time of surrender, the vet exam on the date of adoption, and a follow-up exam within 2 weeks from the date of adoption that includes a stool check to make sure all worms were cleared by the initial dose of wormer
Adoption donation minimum requested:           20.00
Rabies shot for animals over 12 weeks of age:  19.00 (due at follow up on young kittens)
Spay/neuter on all unaltered kittens and cats:   55.00/45.00
*FeLeuk/FIV/Heartworm triple combo test:        30.00
*Microchip implant and registration:                  35.00
*Cardboard Carrier                                           5.00
Female/male Total due (cash, check, VISA/MC):  159.00/149.00

*optional services or supplies

Feel free to call your vet for the price of these services secured on a free kitten.  The prices above apply to animals being adopted from us.  Please see our Clinic Hospital page for pricing on your pet or new pets adopted elsewhere visting our clinic.  Because of our clinic that serves our community and nationwide donors, we are able to keep adoption-related costs to a miminum in an effort to place as many cats as possible into responsible homes.
