Animal Success Stories
The following stories have been received from adopters spanning greater than a decade.  You will see how highly adoptable and special needs animals steal the hearts of their new families.  Many of the dogs including Ike, Comet, Cornell, Sash, and Max were pulled from overcrowded shelters prior to their placement through our adoption program.  Others were adopted out, returned, and found fulfillment in a second or third home.

If you have adopted from us and wish to share your story, please do so.  To send your story and pictures in .jpg format and if you have any questions, please email whshelpline@aol.com .

10-1212 Peetie

I adopted Peetie a week ago, and he is just so sweet!!! He is very happy here, and is spoiled rotten LOL. It really makes me feel good to have rescued him. I am thinking about volunteering at the woman's Humane Society. I hope everyone that adopts pets are as lucky as Peetie and I.

10-1639 Elsa

This is Elsa, we now call her Elsie. She is very sweet, loving, and smart. She and Gracie are never without each other. Elsie is teaching Gracie to go potty outside and Gracie is teaching Elsie to use the puddle pads if she can't make it outside. When I first brought Elsie home, I let her and Gracie outside. Elsie ran around and around with Gracie behind her, they play with and share their toys, Gracie sleeps on one side of me at night and Elsie is on the other side. I am so happy I found her, she is a great addition to my family, she loves my grand-daughter who is 3, she lets Maxx the rottie lick her whole body, he has washed her so much she is squeaky clean. Thank you for letting me have her.

06-4747 Zoey

Zoey is now a loved member of our family. She completes our house hold. i could never imagine having a dog as great and loving as she is. She is such a blessing . As i always remind my family "We did not pick her....... She chose us"

09-4158

Hi. We adopted a dog 09-4158 back in November 2009. We named her Bailey. I want to let you know what a sweetheart she is. She is sooooo cute and so much fun. She has buddy Tucker, a 4 year old cocker mix and they love to chase each other and play. She is a very, very good dog and the two of them brings smiles to my wife and I every day. They have a big fenced in yard to play in and they use every inch of it. Attached is a picture of 09-4158 at your place and a picture of Bailey relaxing in one of her favorite spots. I think you can see a happier dog. We are very happy to have her brighten our lives every day. Thank you for what you do. If your place wasn't there who knows what could have happened to the sweet little girl. She deserved a second chance and we couldn't be happier that it is with us.

05-3284 Sugar

In September of 2005, after the sudden death of our 8 year old beloved border collie, Teddy, we came to the humane society looking to adopt another small dog for a companion for our late mixed collie, Tonya. We were lucky to find Sugar, a black and white a rat terrier. She had been given up by her owner because Sugar didn't get along with her young children. Sugar adapted quickly to our household and today, is happy and healthy, playing along side our chihuahua/pug mix, Sandi. We can't imagine life without Sugar.
