Animal Success Stories
The following stories have been received from adopters spanning greater than a decade.  You will see how highly adoptable and special needs animals steal the hearts of their new families.  Many of the dogs including Ike, Comet, Cornell, Sash, and Max were pulled from overcrowded shelters prior to their placement through our adoption program.  Others were adopted out, returned, and found fulfillment in a second or third home.

If you have adopted from us and wish to share your story, please do so.  To send your story and pictures in .jpg format and if you have any questions, please email whshelpline@aol.com .

11-3348 Smokey Joe

This is Smokin Joe the Poodle and his friend Elsie. I adopted Joe from you in October, he is very much a velcro dog, loves his new friends Tyson and Elsie who were also adopted from you. They are all a joy and I thank you very much for letting me adopt Joe to make my family complete.

09-4636

Our family adopted Penny in January, 2010. She was rescued from a puppy mill where she was used for breeding. Penny was approx. 1 1/2 yrs. old when we brought her home, she was terrified of us, she lived in a crate her whole life. Now, 1 1/2 years later we are so proud of how far she has come. She is such a smart dog, housebroke very easily, the kids taught her tricks, and she is so loving and affectionate. Never stops licking us! We love her with all of our hearts, making the decision to adopt her was the best decision we could have ever made. Thank you for such a wonderful pet, we want you to know that she is very well taken care of and very much loved by all of us, we wouldn't know what to do without her!

10-3682 Sam

I adopted Sam in November of 2010 and it was the best thing I ever did. Sam is the best dog and he is so friendly. He is truly a joy. I tell everyone that he may be little, but he is truly mighty. I am quite proud of that little fellow. As a matter of fact, he has been nicknamed the Mayor of Mt. Airy. Everyone knows and loves Sam. I was very lucky to get him. I tell people he was the best $71.00 I ever spent. Sam is such a wonderful dog that he has become the official building mascot.

10-2455

Our family adopted Dutch in August 2010, He is the most lovable dog ever....He also has a great sense of family....He has my heart.....we found out the Dutch loves the beach as well as running in the park...thank goodness for the Humane Society

11-1327 Chi Chi

This is Tyson a little white Chihuahua that I adopted on 06/22/2011, he is a doll and just loves his sister Elsie. Elsie was adopted from the Humane Society last year. When we brought Elsie in to meet Tyson (Chi-Chi) she growled at him and there was some concern. But thanks to Karen, we were able to bring him home and now where ever Elsie is Tyson is. Tyson is the third to be adopted from you and they are all great friends and we just love them. Thank you for letting us have him.
