Obedience Training Classes

The cost for the  seven-week series of obedience training classes is $90 ($85 if you adopted a dog from the Women's Humane Society). Classes are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Some classes begin with an orientation session. Participants must bring a health certificate from their veterinarian stating that the dog is in good health, has had distemper, parvo and rabies shots, and does not have external or internal parasites.

Obedience training classes teach basic commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it, heel (how to walk on a leash) come, and how to calmly walk by other dogs and strangers.  Our trainers will help you understand how your dog thinks and learns, enabling you to better understand the training process. Training involves positive motivation, flexibility and, most importantly, FUN.

For information on class schedules and registration, call us at 215-750-3100. To register for Tuesday and Thursday evening or Saturday morning classes, call Deb at 215-437-1932. To register for Wednesday morning classes,  call Faith at 215-379-3419.

Choosing the Right Class for You and Your Dog

When you are considering obedience classes, a serious consideration in your decision should be the training methods used by the dog obedience schools. Look for trainers who believe in kind, positive methods of training. Dog trainers who encourage the use of choke chains or any kind of rough handling should be avoided at all costs. Although there are many trainers available, many of them have no real life experience and just use a basic scripted curriculum.
